Valentine Party Gift Prizes

Children's Valentine in somewhat questionable ...

Not all executives have genuine concerns for their employees. Take my boss for example. He announced last week that the company will have a party on Valentine’s Day. What?! That is Valentine’s Day!!! If he had a love life, he’d understand what I’m feeling right now. But hey, he’s the boss. He wanted to give out corporate promotional gifts during the party. He wanted games and prizes to be won by the employees.

To make matters worse, he wanted me to take part in the preparations. He asked me to purchase apparel corporate promotional gifts and have our company name and logo imprinted on them. That was a slap in the face. No more dates for me on the most romantic day of the year, thanks to him.

I have nothing against giving away of gifts. It’s good in fact. But come on, it’s freakin’ Valentine’s Day! Instead of me and my boyfriend going out and having a good time, there I am, ‘enjoying’ the party that I helped organize. What a life.

I forget to mention that he also wanted to give out auto accessories corporate promotional gifts to the managers. He said that all the managers deserve the gift because of the improved performance of the company. I would love to tell him that if he’s happy with what we’re doing, go and give us a raise!

Talk about a futile attempt to change the world. I can’t do anything about it. Again, he’s the boss. Whatever I do, those Valentines gift ideas will eat up my (used to be) pre-valentine plans.
